As a caregiver it’s really difficult sometimes to see all of the help that’s available to you. Some help you need to do a little digging to find, but other assistance is right there waiting for you to ask.

Talk to Friends and Neighbors

Even if you don’t have a bunch of other family members who can help you pick up some of the slack, you may have friends and neighbors who would be happy to help if they just knew what to do. These might be people who you wouldn’t necessarily ask to help with more personal tasks, but they could pick up a prescription for your senior or add a couple of items to their own grocery trip when you forget something. Talk to them about what they might be able to do for you and then remember to ask them for help as situations crop up.

Get to Know Senior Agencies in the Area

Agencies that work with and help the elderly offer quite a few different types of assistance, but you might not hear about them often. Once you do learn which agencies work with people like your elderly family member, you can start to dig into what they offer and how they can make life easier for you and your senior. Keep a running list of agencies and how they help so that you have that information when you need it.

Although no regulations require nurse oversight in California, Golden Years goes above and beyond the industry standard. Our clients are routinely visited by a Golden Years nurse. Each visit consists of a wellness check where our nurse discusses care needs and takes notes pertaining to the overall wellness of the client. These notes are submitted to our care team for review, where care changes are discussed and implemented after the family’s approval. We go the extra mile to ensure your loved one receives the best care possible.
