Ken Ballard
Co-Founder & Business Development Director Golden Years Home Care
Ken Ballard co-founded Golden Years Home Care in 1996 alongside his wife Carrie, establishing what would become one of Northern California’s most trusted home care providers. With 40+ years of combined experience in senior care, Ken witnessed firsthand the struggles families faced when trying to find trustworthy, compassionate care for aging parents, which became the driving force behind creating Golden Years.
Growing up helping in family care facilities, Ken understood the profound impact that personalized care could have on seniors and their families. This wasn’t just work for him—it was his calling.
In 1996, with more passion than resources, Ken and Carrie started with just $5,000, one phone line, and an unwavering mission: to help families care for their loved ones as if they were their own. Despite early challenges and limited resources, Ken’s determination and business acumen helped establish Golden Years Guest Home as their first state-licensed facility.
Ken had a pivotal realization when he noticed that as seniors in their care got healthier through rehabilitation, they all wanted the same thing: to go home. This simple observation sparked the question: “”Why don’t we bring our care to them?”” This insight led to the creation of Golden Years In-Home Senior Care, revolutionizing how they approached senior care.
Today, Ken continues to personally oversee operations as Business Development Director, ensuring that every caregiver, care plan, and client interaction reflects the values he established on day one. Under his leadership, Golden Years has grown to serve multiple Sacramento locations, expanded to San Diego, and developed proprietary programs like Care365™ and Co-Active Care™.
Ken’s philosophy remains unchanged: “”We don’t just care for seniors; we care about them.”” His commitment to the Golden Rule—caring for others as we would want to be cared for ourselves—has guided every decision for three decades.
