Our Journey in Elder Home Care: A Story of Passion and Dedication

My name is Ken Ballard, and along with my wife, Carrie, we founded Golden Years In-Home Senior Care with a simple mission: to provide the kind of care we’d want for our parents.

Our journey began long before home care became a widely recognized service. Even as young adults, we knew that caring for seniors was our calling. We started by assisting in our family’s home care facilities, learning firsthand what it truly means to support aging adults with dignity and respect.

In 1996, we took a leap of faith and opened our first state-licensed facility, Golden Years Guest Home. It wasn’t easy; our family believed in tough love, and we had to prove ourselves every step of the way. But those early challenges shaped us into the caregivers we are today, committed to providing in-home care for older adults.

One of our first clients was an elderly man suffering from bone cancer. He needed round-the-clock assistance with everything—bathing, dressing, meal preparation, and companionship. It was demanding, but we loved every minute of it because we knew we were making a real difference in his life.

That experience taught us that elder home care isn’t just about tasks—it’s about connection, patience, and unwavering commitment.
